Platform Migration
001 — Overview
Outgrowing Your Platform Is a Good Problem
Moving an online store is one of the hardest digital projects a business can face. Products, variants, images, customer accounts, order history, and SEO value all need to transfer cleanly. One missed step can mean lost revenue or destroyed rankings.
We have moved stores between every major platform. Our process includes automated data mapping, full redirect coverage, customer account transfer, and post-move checks that verify every product, URL, and customer record landed right.

Our Process
A Proven E-Commerce Migration Path
-
01
Data Audit & Mapping
We export and catalog all data from the source platform. We map fields to the new format, flag transform needs, and note any data quality issues.
-
02
Test Migration
We run a full move to staging. We check product counts, image quality, customer records, and redirects against the source data.
-
03
Design & Build
We build or customize the new store while the old one keeps running. We set up payments, shipping, and all links to other tools.
-
04
Cutover & Validation
We run the final move during low-traffic hours. We sync new orders from the cutover window, turn on redirects, and do thorough post-move QA.

FAQ
E-Commerce Migration Questions
Customer accounts, names, emails, addresses, and order history all move to the new platform. Passwords cannot transfer for security reasons. Customers set a new password on first login. We build a smooth password reset flow to make this easy.
We keep downtime as short as possible. Most data transfers happen in staging while your live store runs. The final cutover window is 2 to 4 hours during your slowest period. During that time, we transfer new orders and turn on the new store.
Not with proper redirects in place. We create full 301 redirect maps for every product URL, category URL, and content page. With canonical URLs and sitemap work, our moves protect SEO value. Most clients see rankings settle within 2 to 4 weeks.
Yes. Custom stores need extra discovery to learn the data structure and export options. We use direct database access, API exports, or screen scraping to pull all data. Custom data types map to matching features on the new platform.
We have moved stores between Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, Squarespace Commerce, Volusion, and custom builds. The most common moves are Magento to Shopify, WooCommerce to Shopify, and BigCommerce to WooCommerce.
